‘President Donald J. Trump Highway’: Florida State Rep. Proposes Renaming Highway

A Florida State representative has announced that he will be supporting an amendment to rename a major highway in the state after former President  Donald J. Trump.

“This great highway runs through the heartland of Florida in the State that President Trump calls home,” Sabatini wrote on his Facebook page. “Looking forward to working on this important designation honoring one of the greatest Presidents in American History.”

Highway U.S. 27 goes from the northern side of Tallahassee, down through the eastern part of the city where it becomes Apalachee Parkway near the state Capitol. The nearly 481 mile highway continues through central Florida until it reaches Miami.

“Highway 27 travels the heartland of real Florida—which is perfect because President Trump best embodies the values of the American heartland,” Sabatini said. “This is a fitting designation for the first Floridian president.

Former President Trump and Melania left the White House Wednesday morning before Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Donald Trump wouldn’t be the first former president to have a highway named after him.

Trump’s predecessor, Former President Barack Obama, had a stretch of California freeway named after him in 2018. President George Bush had a turnpike in Texas named for the late George H.W. Bush which is a 52-mile east-west stretch of road in in the northern half of Dallas, Texas.

John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in the nation’s capitol are both large transportation hubs which were named after U.S. Presidents.

In President Donald Trump’s last formal speech at Joint Base Andrew, Trump did not repeat his claims of widespread voter fraud.

“I will tell you the future of this country has never been better,” Trump said. “I wish the new administration great luck and great success. I think they’ll have great success. They have the foundation to do something really spectacular.

“We will be back in some form,” Trump said, before departing with: “Have a good life. We will see you soon.”
