President Donald Trump has announced on Twitter former New York City Mayor and head of the Trump legal team Rudy Giuliani has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“@RudyGiuliani, by far the greatest mayor in the history of NYC, and who has been working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA, has tested positive for the China Virus. Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!!,” Trump tweeted out the afternoon of Sunday
Giuliani didn’t appear to show any symptoms during his interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo early Sunday. At age 76, Giuliani is at a higher risk from the virus. Giuliani’s son, Andrew, who serves as Trump’s public liaison assistant, tested positive two weeks ago, though Giuliani refused to quarantine among the heated legal battle following the contested results of the 2020 Presidential Election, appearing before numerous state legislatures.
Two months after President Trump’s diagnosis and subsequent beating of the virus, Giuliani will join the list of Trump’s inner circle to contract the virus, including first lady Melania Trump, his sons Barron and Donald Trump Jr., his chief of staff Mark Meadows, his press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, his campaign manager Bill Stepien, former counselor Kellyanne Conway, as well as several members of the Secret Service.
