How Trump Is Pro-LGBT+, Despite The Left’s Lies

President Trump in Greeley, CO on October 30, 2016

As you know by now, I am a Conservative who happens to be gay. I have friends throughout the LGBT+ community, most of whom disagree with my views on President Trump and my traditional values. My sexuality has never determined my intellect or political beliefs, and being gay and Conservative are not mutually exclusive, regardless of the lies the Left tries to indoctrinate me with.

I’ve never met President Trump, but I have friends who have and say he’s a great guy. He’s human, just like the rest of us – so he’s not perfect. He tweets things I wouldn’t, and says things so bluntly at times, but, I find this to be something that a lot of Americans relate to at the end of the day. He’s not a polished politician like others in the swamp, he speaks whatever is on his mind. Most importantly, he’s a man of action.

Unlike the narrative the media likes to push about President Trump, I believe actions speak louder than words – especially when it comes to President Trump. He has fulfilled many of the promises he made when he first ran for office, and the RNC this year showed us this on his Promises Kept.

I happen to be the Communications Director for the Log Cabin Republican chapter here in Phoenix, AZ, and have had the honor of meeting some of the greatest LGBT+ thinkers within the conservative movement who, like myself, have been ostracized from the LGBT+ mainstream community for our values and political stances.

A headline of many that echoed similar sentiments about President Trump somehow revoking a protection that never existed to begin with

I’ve met transgender individuals who support President Trump and weren’t fooled by the media’s outcry of fake news announcing the Trump Administration wanted to get rid of trans rights, which is categorically false. The transgender protection that everyone was hysterical about being revoked was ruled against in court before Trump was ever President. It was never law; ergo, it is impossible for the Trump administration to revoke it. It was struck down in 2016 before Trump was inaugurated, which means Obama was still President.

The emotional manipulation that the media employs against the LGBT+ community in order to cause an uproar is intellectually dishonest, controlling, and manipulative.

I am tired of it.

The Facts

Did you know President Trump is the first to ever enter office being pro-gay?

Did you also know that he picked Richard Grenell to be the acting Director of National Intelligence making Grenell the first openly gay person to hold a cabinet-level position?

Did you know his administration is working on decriminalizing homosexuality on a global scale? You heard me. In some countries loving someone of the same-sex is an actual crime, that he wants to decriminalize. What a homophobe, right?

If you’d like to read more about his pro-LGBT+ accomplishments and actions he has taken for equality, I invite you to read more here.

An additional and more thorough resource that debunks the lies about President Trump and the LGBT+ community can be found here as well.

What Needs To Be Done

  1. The common myth that President Trump, Republicans, and Conservatives hate or wish ill-will upon LGBT+ individuals needs to be changed. I’ve met incredible people on the Right who value, honor, and respect me for my intellect and my voice – which is all that matters to me. Some accept me, others don’t, but this is life. Not everyone is going to ‘approve’ of who you are, and you have to deal with that, regardless of politics.
  2. Fight lies with the truth. The more people share truth in the midst of the current chaos going on and false narratives being spread online, the better. The truth will always win.
  3. It’s not easy, but my fellow LGBT+ Conservatives need to start speaking out politically and using their voices to help paint a more accurate picture of the Right. The current lie is that you “can’t be gay and Conservative”, because not many people have met someone who was, so it’s not in their realm of experience. This narrative can only change when more speak up. The Left can only get away with their manipulative “anti-LGBT+” rhetoric about the Right because so many stay silent, but it’s time to get loud.

In the words of Rick Warren,

“Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someones life, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense.”

The Big Lie

Have you heard of this phrase before? If not, I’m happy to share the meaning. The “Big Lie” is an expression that was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously”. Lately, all across mainstream media outlets, I see the truth distorted not just about President Trump, but a myriad of issues that have swept this great nation. The only cure for the division being promulgated in America today is the truth. It’s the only antidote to misinformation.

While the Left hasn’t committed acts of genocide like Hitler did, they are quite similar by utilizing this deplorable propaganda technique that Hitler himself used in spreading false information. They are painting false narratives that seek to divide this country from within with their “Big Lies”.

The narrative that President Trump is anti-LGBT+ is unfounded, yet an effective manipulative tool that the Left and their propaganda machines like to employ when facts are not on their side.

Let’s debunk them, together.
