U.S Marshals have rescued 39 children in Northern and Central Georgia in a 2-week mission called “Operation Not Forgotten”. 26 of them were rescued and 13 were safely located. The missing children were considered some of the most at-risk cases.
The mission was led by the ‘U.S Marshals Service Missing Child Unit” working with the ‘National Center For Missing and Exploited Children’ and local and state officials.
12 of the children rescued were not listed under the NCMEC which indicates that they have been missing for under 30 days.Â
Some of them were being either exploited, trafficked, and/or held by their own parents.Â
9 people were arrested and charged with crimes of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, parental kidnapping, being a registered sex offender without an address, and being a sex offender in the presence of a child under the age of 5.
