Police were attempting to arrest Jacob Blake for violating a restraining order that was filed against him after being accused of sexual assault. The incident took place on May 3, and he was forbidden from going to the home of the victim. After a call came in on Sunday saying that he was there, police responded to the home within three minutes. The police who arrived on the scene knew he had an open warrant for felony sexual assault.
Blake’s family says he is paralyzed from the waist down. Due to the warrant, Blake had been handcuffed to his hospital bed, the warrant has since been vacated, but he is still facing the criminal charges.
According to the complaint he broke into the woman’s home on May 3. She told police she was asleep in bed with one of her children. He came into the room, said he wanted his “sh**”, used his finger to assault her, and said something vulgar.
She told police that she was very upset with what he’d done to her and was in pain, but she collected herself and ran out the front door to follow him. That was when she saw that her car was gone, she checked her purse and her keys were missing, then she called 911. She also told police that shes’s known Blake for 8 years and he has a history of assaulting her.
On August 23, he returned to the home where his victim lived and she called police. He was not there to “break up a fight” as the media initially reported. Two videos filming the altercation show police trying to arrest him, he struggled with police, even had one officer in a headlock, and they tased him twice. He got up to walk to the driver’s side of the vehicle where he attempted to reach inside and that is when the officer resorted to firing his gun at Blake.
