Hurricane Laura is ravaging toward the Texas-Louisiana coast and is expected to make landfall late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
The near Category 5 hurricane is assumed to be the most powerful to hit the U.S. in 2020. Half a million residents have been ordered to evacuate but 20 million are still in the path of the storm. For reference, Hurricane Katrina was a Category 3 when it hit land in 2005.
The storm is located about 90 miles south of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and 90 miles south-southeast of Port Arthur, Texas. According to the weather service, maximum winds have reached 150 mph and the storm is moving at 15 mph.
