Donald Trump Asked About QAnon: “I Understand They Like Me Very Much”

Donald Trump had a press conference Wednesday after the 2nd night of speeches at the virtual DNC when he was asked about his thoughts on QAnon. QAnon is an alleged right-wing movement run by a small group of people that expose the deep state. It started in 2017 on the site 4chan and has reached a broad audience. If you’ve been following politics enough on social media, youÂ’ve probably seen pages dedicated to Q.

After he speaks for 12 minutes, he takes questions from reporters. The first question is about QAnon.

“During the pandemic, the QAnon movement appears to be getting a lot of followers. Can you talk about what you think about that and what you have to say to people who are following this movement right now?”

President Trump: “Well I don’t know much about the movement other than, I understand, they like me very much, which I appreciate. But I don’t know much about the movement. I have heard that it is gaining in popularity and from what I hear these are people that  watch the streets of Portland and when they watched what happened in New York City in just the last 6 or 7 months what happened but this was starting 4 years ago when I came here. 4 years ago, Can you believe it?…”

Donald Trump continued on and the reporter further elaborates on QAnon.

“The theory is this belief that you are secretly saving the world from this satanic cult of pedophiles and cannibals. Does that sound like something you are behind or…?”
