BREAKING: Metro Nashville Council Member Wants People Not Wearing a Mask to Be Charged with Murder or Attempted Murder

On Wednesday, during a virtual meeting for the Joint Public Safety and Health Committee Sharon Hurt, councilwoman for Metro Nashville, said that there needs to be stricter legislation and enforcement for people not wearing masks. She said those without a face covering should be arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.

In the meeting, she said she works for an organization that, “If they pass the virus, then they are tried for murder or attempted murder.” And that, in her opinion, the same standard should apply to the public.

She said, “This person who may very well pass this virus that’s out in the air because they’re not wearing a mask is basically doing the same thing to someone who contracts it and dies from it.”

Metro Nashville’s Director of Legislative Affairs, Mike Jameson, was also at the meeting and pointed out, “The Council does not have the opportunity on its own to create criminal legislation. In terms of creating a new code or class of criminal offenses, that is a creature of state law.”

Hurt responded, “I was afraid that was going to be the answer.”

This brazen suggestion came at the time where Nashville has seen a great decline in new daily cases of the virus and the fatality rate is at less than one percent.

It was also the same day that Mayor John Cooper told Metro Nashville Police Department that officers are ordered to cite citizens for not adhering to the Health Department’s Mask Order.

How Absurd

This statement is far more shocking and absurd than when Nancy Pelosi ripped up the Presidents’ State of the Union address. Being charged with murder and attempted murder for not wearing a mask to prevent the spread of coronavirus when there is conflicting evidence on whether or not they actually work? Being charged with the heaviest crime when new case rates are already dropping? That is lunacy.

So we’re going to start arresting people and charging them with murder for not wearing a mask when they may not even have the virus in the first place and they didn’t pass it to anyone else? We’re going to start arresting people for not wearing a mask to stop the spread of a virus that has a 99.96% survival rate? Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Welcome to communist America. Thank Heaven legislation like that would never pass so long as good Republicans, and even Democrats, have anything to say about it.
