Operation LeGend was named after 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro who was killed on June 29, 2020 asleep in his home in Kansas City, Missouri. Last week Kansas City Police announced the arrest of a suspect who murdered LeGend Taliferro. The aim of this operation is to coordinate with all law enforcement to combat the recent surge in violent crime.
On Wednesday, Attorney General William Barr announced the success so far with Operation LeGend that was launched six weeks ago. He said that across 8 cities nearly 1500 arrests have been made about 217 of those arrested have been charged federal crimes, most of those being drug or gun-related. More than 90 defendants have homicide charges against them.
The ATF said they have seized over 400 firearms since the operation began six weeks ago. 1485 total people have been arrested, but officials haven’t confirmed how many of those are still in custody.
