America today is the most polarized it has been since the Civil War. It seems like every day there is a new debate between “Left, and Right.” Americans are constantly engaged in social warfare all the way from twitter to the dinner table. Violent protests are breaking out all over the country, cities are being destroyed, and people are being assaulted for differing political views. This is the reality that we are living in. It is near impossible to go on the internet without coming across a multitude of people complaining about how horrible America is, or the “extreme injustices” of the American system. The political division of our country is something that has been going on for many years, and is currently accelerating at an unprecedented speed.
There are many issues that are plaguing the American people right now. The interesting thing is that some of the most popular issues are the ones that virtually all Americans can agree on. For example two of the hottest topics right now are racism, and police brutality. Almost every single person in the United States agrees that these things are very bad. The reason these issues become so divisive is because it is always taken further and further by people pushing a political agenda. Everyone agrees that racism is bad, but when it gets to the point where certain people demand you to apologize for being a white individual, or to excuse rioting and looting this is where you lose support. Watch as Democratic candidate Marianne Williamson asks all white people to pray an apology to all African-Americans.
The United States of America is undoubtedly one of the greatest countries in the history of the world. It is unmatched in its original ideals and virtues. America is a place where everybody has the opportunity to go from nothing to achieving their highest dreams and aspirations. All Americans are afforded the opportunity to fulfill this dream; black or white, male or female. This is the idea that America was founded upon. America wasn’t founded on the principles of slavery and violence as many people today will try to convince you. When we as Americans unite under these ideals and support each other in the pursuit of happiness, this is when America will heal. America, since her birth has been a beacon of freedom and hope to the rest of the world. This is the purpose our ancestors from the beginning have fought so hard to preserve this nation. We must come together and emulate the virtues that make America the greatest nation in the history of the world. John Adams once said, “Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives.”
